Social media gives nearly everyone the ability to speak with apparent authority, but visibility is not the same as competence. The panel examines the limitations of follower counts, titles, affiliations, military or law-enforcement backgrounds, and other shortcuts people use when deciding whom to trust.
The discussion emphasizes context. Experience may be valuable without transferring automatically to every audience, mission, or instructional problem. Useful information should survive questions about evidence, relevance, reasoning, and application—not merely the reputation of the person presenting it.
The panel also considers intellectual humility, productive disagreement, trolling, negative customer interactions, the limitations of short-form written communication, and why people tend to remember criticism more strongly than positive engagement.
