Primary & Secondary is an independent resource focused on firearms, training, tactics, equipment, mindset, law enforcement, and the practical application of professional knowledge. Founded in 2014, P&S exists to collect, examine, and share useful information for people who want more than slogans, surface-level answers, or one-size-fits-all advice.
The project is built around context. Equipment, techniques, and decisions should be evaluated according to the mission, the environment, the end user, and the consequences involved. Primary & Secondary brings together articles, podcasts, discussions, after-action reports, and professional perspectives to help readers understand not only what people do, but why they do it.
About Matt Landfair
Primary & Secondary was founded by Matt Landfair, a career law-enforcement professional, firearms instructor, and armorer. His professional experience includes patrol, training coordination, firearms instruction, equipment evaluation, and continued study with instructors and organizations across the firearms and tactical-training community.
Matt has written for RECOIL, Breach Bang Clear, Soldier Systems Daily, and Moderno, and has hosted and participated in extensive long-form discussions with instructors, law-enforcement officers, military professionals, manufacturers, and other subject-matter experts. He is also known in parts of the firearms community as Matt Prime and Riafdnal.
The Extended P&S Network
Primary & Secondary is largely a one-person operation, but it has been shaped by a much broader professional community. The Extended P&S Network recognizes instructors, law-enforcement and military professionals, writers, makers, industry leaders, and other people whose experience, work, mentorship, or support has contributed to P&S and the wider community.
P&S does not exist to provide universal answers. Its purpose is to preserve useful knowledge, connect readers with credible people and resources, encourage informed discussion, and help end users make better decisions for their own circumstances.
