RDS on pistols

Three hundred rounds thru a G19 w/RM06, first 150 were wasted due to the optic turning on and off. After trying tape on the bottom of the battery (no), I called Trijicon for advise or RMA. The helpful customer service rep was very willing to have me send the RMR back for them to inspect. During the conversation she mentioned trying 1/8" of paper under the battery to address the problem. Ended up using an O-Ring which seems to be working thru the last 150 rds.

In the very brief 150 rd trial and probably 500 dry fires from the holster, I am not having problems picking up the dot on the first or subsequent rounds. Transitions from dot to dot is substantially slower and less accurate than irons. I realize this is a training issue but that is my impression so far.

Unfortunately, my eyes have gotten bad enough that unless I have the right glasses on at the time the front sight is very fuzzy. The glasses I wear daily gives me a very round distinct (no bloom) dot.

Did you try just changing out the battery? That seems to work for probably 80% of the people I know who've had this issue, which includes me.

I am also confused by your post. You say you're not having issues picking up the dot, but then you say that you are substantially slower shot to shot (?).

Yes, I had read on another forum that was sometimes the quick fix but in this case it did not help.

Shooting one target shot to shot no problems. When transitioning from one 2" dot to another another 2" dot 6" apart I was having more issues with accuracy than when using irons. As I said, a training issue.

Necro post from hell, but is the RMR06 still the RDS of choice? I just sent a slide to ATEI with the option to purchase the sight from them, but they are waiting for a shipment to come in.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I figured that the 06 was still the best option but recent threads on book face included a lot of noise about other models, and since I've got at least a month to make up my mind I figured double checking wouldn't hurt.

There are a lot of other options that can work well under ideal conditions; the biggest reason the RM06 comes out above its RMR brethren is because you can dial brightness up/down to match the conditions...or more likely, to match your weaponlight.

The washout from a wml is what has me interested in the 06. I don't run NVG, but I've always had god awful luck with self adjusting anything. Whether it was a camera or a guidance system. Technology isn't my friend.

Why is the RMR preferred over something like the T1? Is it just size and weight? Seems like T1 is better since the emitter is enclosed.

I was wondering one thing about RDS' on pistols, thread showed some amazing pieces but I still have several industry friends saying "oh, yes. RDS on a pistol is awesome. Just shoot two years without the RDS then get one."
And several others say "it's a lint magnet and prone to breakage. I regret buying one, but I have to use it for company stuff."

I looked up the two amazing articles on why an RDS should belong on a peestol but all my reasoning to buy one and a slide to mount (replacing the slide rather than buying a whole new gun) the 06 boils down to my father having shit vision in his dom eye.

I have other reasons to buy one as well, but are they really a must-have or another passing fad? I would try out an RDS but nobody around my city of residence owns an RDS Glock 22.

I'm worried about blockage should my gun fall in the dirt. I would still have my irons, but spending upwards of $700 or more just to have a glob of mud stuck in the area where the light comes out puts me off.
TL;DR convince new shooters like myself to go with an RDS and any advice you guys may have.

(I figured this was an appropriate place to post this)

This photo is not representative of actual sight pictures through an RMR.

It is more like a VERY fuzzy outline of the optic with a crisp target and dot.

I'm almost a year with my RMR06 and I have no complaints, after switching out the initial battery.
I'm awaiting an Atom adapter plate from Unity and I plan on running an Aimpoint H1 to compare.

If I were buying new, I'd probably go Leopold Delta Point Pro. A buddy has one and has been really happy, I've only got some dry reps with his but I pick up the dot a little sooner in the presentation. Believe they are less than an RMR price wise, at least with the LE discount.
