Why did you choose to bridge the gap between your hand guard and receiver with your optic? Isn't that less than desirable for much the same reason you use a free floating hand guard?

On this mount the lugs are still on the reciever. I wanted the Aimpoint out just a little further if I could so I put the lugs on the last two slots of the reciever. The rest of the mount does hang over onto the handguard but I thought since the lugs were on the reciever I'd be ok. Maybe I need to re-think that decision.

The recoil lugs may only touch the rail on the receiver, but the lever pulls the entire opposite side against both your hand guard rail and your receiver rail. I would think that the front rail (hand guard) moving relative to the back rail (receiver) would negatively affect your optic. Maybe the movement is so small it's inconsequential, but to me, that risk isn't worth moving my optic forward by a half inch.

Yeah. That's what I was afraid of. I was trying to justify it somehow but I agree with that assesment. It hasn't been a problem thus far but like you said, the potential negative outcomes aren't worth 1/2".

Looks like I'll be re-zeroing tomorrow.

Heres an ADM gun I set as a demo to take to any training classes I'm attending this year.

16" UIC Mod2, ADM Grey Cerakote, 13.5" M-LOK rail
7075 Billet, fully ambidextrous controls integrated (no bolt on parts to make it ambi)
SureFire Mini Scout, SFMB and SOCOM556-RC can, DBAL-I2, Atlas bipod (QD lever, I take it off if not needed), Gripstop, Railscales, Nightforce NXS 2.4-10x32 MIL-R reticle, offset Trijicon RMR (RM06), ADM A2s trigger, Premium Nitride BCG, HD buffer. Barrel is a 16" midlength 4150CMV, button rifled, chrome lined, 8:8 twist .223 Wylde chamber.View attachment 399 View attachment 400
This gun is exactly what I have been envisioning for an 18" SPR style rifle, except in FDE/OD....well done sir...

Its scary how similar the AR I built is to quite a few in this thread.

But for now here's all I have a pic of. I shoot this rifle more than anything else.
308Saker.jpeg
Remington 700 .308 16.5 inch barrel.
Bedded into a HS precision stock with PT&G Bottom metal.
Vortex 2.5-10 MIL Reticle
Saker 762 and brake

Can easily group in the chest zone at 750 with 168 Amaxes.

Did a demo with OSS a few months ago... I was extremely impressed with the quality and performance! Couldn't get past the price or the size... Not often do you see a truly revolutionary product anymore. Hats off to them and if the product fit my role a little better I'd scrape the pennies together and get one.

From what I've seen their price isn't much higher than a "comprable" SiCo Can. It's definatly higher but for having a can that blast hot toxic fumes in your face is worth it. The size looks a bit big on a 16" ar. You can chop the barrel. And since it's an over the barrel design it only adds 4.8" which isnt bad when most of the time other cans add 5"+ to your length. Did i mention less than .5MOA shift as well. I'm also a sucker for something different instead of a round tube. Hopefully you can get one! Their new Gen IV can looks awesome and you can just thread on the SRM

If the Mods could delete it...Who are the Mod's here? The Mod's here ....;)

I've had this rifle for more than a few years. It has some mileage on it. It has proven to be extremely reliable over a range of ammo...duty, training rounds, frangibles....etc....

LWRC lower
10.3" CHF Daniel Defense barrel. DD agreed to set the GP to my spec- .093
Youngs Manufacturing NM BCG- I wanted the heavier weight with the larger GP
Troy 11" rail
Levang Comp
LWRC Buffer Tube and Stock
GEN III Law Tactical golding stock adapter. This has proven to be rock solid. No wobble what so ever. Makes.for compact storage of the rifle

My newest project.

Bottom:

BCM 14.5" ELWF, w/15" KMR
ATPIAL-C
Surefire muzzle brake
BCM KAG
Surefire P3X Fury in HSP Thorntail
MI front and rear flip-up BUIS
T2 on Larue LT660
Norgon ambi-catch
BAD-CASS ambi safety
Armageddon Tactical GMS-15 ambi charging handle
BCM Gunfighter Grip
BCM Gunfighter Stock
Ares Armor MII EWS sling

Top: (7.62x39 upper)

Aero Precision receiver
Black Rifle Arms 16" Mid-length 4150 nitrided 7.62x39 barrel
15" KMR
ATPIAL-C
Surefire muzzle brake
BCM KAG
Surefire P3X Fury in HSP Thorntail
MI front and rear flip-up BUIS
T2 on Larue LT660
Armageddon Tactical GMS-15 ambi charging handle

Running C Products Defense 28-rd 7.62x39 magazines. I own 13 of them, and in 2000 rounds of Wolf steel case, the mags and upper/rifle have been flawless. Midlength gas system and a brake is very smooth in 7.62x39.

The 5.56 is BCM...so, yeah...flawless.

^^^ I'm proud to state that I did not immediately notice your camo cock rug. I did eventually see it, but I feel that it was at an appropriate time for a heterosexual man viewing that picture.
