What does 2.04” do that 1.93” doesn’t?
I have and use NODs, laser (MAWL and PEQ), gas mask all seem to work with 1.92 LaRue mounts or 1.93 height mounts.

- Jon Canipe I also don't understand this and am curious where that height came from.
- Dan Dixon Is there anyone from Geissele Automatics, LLC, that could answer this question, on P&S? I haven’t seen any new mounts higher than 1.93” from other manufacturers either.
- Stanislaus Katczinsky ADM, like KAC, has a 2.33"

- Stanislaus Katczinsky ADM, like KAC, has a 2.33"
- Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. I have 2.04 they are great heads up and positional shooting mask
- Andrew Wiseman Knights has their micro NVG mount that is 2.33", it allows iron sight use through the mount.
- Chuck PressburgChuck and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. I passed that height to Bill based on Math that Filip Morovich did. I believe that's RDS over 5/8th riser height. I can't remember it was over a year ago when. Filip, break the math down for them, please.
- Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. You are correct sir
- Jon Dittmer 2.04 is conveniently 1.54 + 1/2
Aren’t night vision scopes typically at 1.54”? Throw in a half inch riser to get there- Chuck PressburgChuck and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. ^^^^ That was it. Covered below. and it was almost two years ago. Time starts flying when you get old.
- Filip Morovich Yep, I passed this idea to Chuck Pressburg in August 2016 and he got it to Bill G.
2.04 is meant for low power variables.
I came up with 2.04 as an improvement over 1.93 because the height brings it closer to the height of taller 1x red dot mounts for better heads up shooting without being too tall to use in prone on 6x.
Remember that 1.93 was designed to physically clear an s&b short dot tube over a long peq2 laser on a short rail - the extra height ended up being an unintended benefit for heads up shooting. 2.04 optimizes it a bit more in that direction.
I settled on 2.04 specifically because it lets you run a standard 1.54” tall CNVD on a common 1/2” riser in front of your 2.04” mounted variable optic so guys can do passive NV shooting as needed with their normal guns. This is a nice extra benefit.
In summary 2.04 takes the 1.93 concept and updates it for modern shooting since 1x6 variables are now used as standard assault rifle optics.
If you try one of these taller mounts I’d also experiment with using a narrower stock, one without a pronounced sloping cheekweld as this is not as important with a taller mounts - Jon Dittmer So the real question is: Geissele half inch Super Precision Riser when?
- Jack Lewis Thank you for breaking that down
- Jon Canipe I like the math, that makes sense.
- Mason Pearson Ok thanks. I knew there had to be a reason, it seemed like a really specific number.
I I have a 1/2 riser and a 1.54 mount guess I will give it a try.- Filip Morovich I think you will like the bit of extra height vs 1.93
- Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. Filip Morovich i do
- Jon Canipe What I've noticed over the years is that I'm holding all the way over MF'ers heads in space to get my shots where I want them up close. Personally, the 1.93 is about as high as I like these days but I supposed I could give it a shot.
- Filip Morovich Ive found that the .11 difference is irrelevant downrange but quite noticeable at your eyeball since it’s just that much quicker and more natural when bringing the optic to your eye.
- Jon Canipe I notice those tenths. I could science the shit out of some stuff but that 2.04 isn't gonna be natural for everyone. I am sure it fits some better than others.
- Jon Canipe I get that the gun is coming up in an arc and you acquire your sights faster the closer to the center of the arc they are (Chuck and I used to put T1s as far back as possible when not using a magnifier based on some geometry from 7th grade) but there comes a point that things are just too tall for my face.
- Filip Morovich Of course, we’re all a bit different. But do give it a shot even if it’s just trying a 1/2” riser plus a regular 1.54” tall optic mount to start.
- Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. Chuck is getting one of my mounts in a week to play with
The gun presentations are much more natural and head position
Sights acquired much faster.
From high and low ready- Dan Dixon Are these your personal mounts, your company’s, or a company partner that’s making them? Asking for clarification.

These are from GeisseleDan Dixon Good deal. Are these prototypes? Hopefully more great stuff from Bill and Big G Team! - Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. Dan Dixon been using them for about a year yes they were prototypes based on input from above people
- Dan Dixon #geisseleallthethings
- Jeromy DillmanJeromy and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. 2.04 probably helps considerably when your head is scaled to the Rocky Balboa bronze statue
- Filip Morovich Jeromy Dillman I’m a not yeti sized only 6” feet tall and this 2.04 height lets me keep my head more upright.
The other thing is if recommend that you try this with a narrow stock, one without a sloping cheekweld since you won’t be burying your face in the stock and the narrow stock profile will let you line up the optic more directly to your eye. - Neal McKillips Dan Dixon they are on the website in 30mm now.

That wasn’t an insult for Steve. It was an observation.
I’ve had 1.93 on my guns since before it was cool. I almost regret taking one off of my game gun to send to work with someone who needed it worse.
Moving to 2.04 may be an option for some as spinal injuries degrade over time
- Bill Ridge Well it figures a New Best Height would be determined RIGHT AFTER Fisher convinced me the 1.93 was the way to go.
I just can't afford to keep up with the cool kids!- Ken Scott I hear ya. My 1.93” G mount just shipped today.
- Mason Pearson Ehh, 1.93 works. I cobbled together a 2.04and It’s different when dry firing, but right now I am not really faster or slower
- Mason Pearson It reminds me a lot like a 1.93 on an HK
- Rick Yates Between my 1.93 mount, and a 1.54 on top of a 1/2” riser, I really don’t notice much of a difference personally.
Remember, based on what Filip said above, the 2.04 is optimized so dudes count throw NV on a half inch riser and it mount up. If that’s not something you need, it’s unlikely that it will make a significant difference for you. - Filip Morovich Rick Yates it’s a bit more than that, I thought there would be generally be an improvement over legacy 1.93” lpvo mount by going higher since most of the time lpvo now are run on 1x like red dot and those are now even higher than this 2.04.
For Lpvo i stopped at 2.04” to make it still work in prone and for the extra benefit of mounting CNVD with common 1/2” risers. - Filip Morovich Mason Pearson do keep playing with it and let us know what you think over time. Use it while wearing a helmet too.
- Jonathan Gifford Without NODs, I still don't understand it.
- Mason Pearson Rick Yates CNVD is in our inventory just to this point only the precision guys use it because it wouldn’t work with normal dudes guns.
Filip Morovich in a week or so I have several days planes at the range to play with the T5Xi and tune up. - Filip Morovich Sweet!
- Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. Mason Pearson don’t move your head as much
- Ken Scott Steve thanks to you I now have a K16i I need to get on my gun...just ordered the 2.04 mount also and gonna keep whichever one I like better. And now I’m poor
- Filip Morovich Ken Scott k16i + 2.04 is beautiful
- Ken Scott Filip Morovich I can’t wait. Just got my shipping notice from Geissele. My K16i is just sitting there being lonely
- Jack Lewis Mason Pearson which riser did you use?
- Filip Morovich Jack Lewis this one - it’s the best 1/2” riser to try tall optics affordably. You can put them under 1.54” tall variable scope mounts or under lower 1/3 mount red dots.
https://www.amazon.com/Yankee-Hill-Machine.../dp/B00AEM2Y2GManage - Mason Pearson What Filp said. I had a YHM in hand To put on my gas gun when I was first issued an HK.
- Jack Lewis Filip Morovich Red Yankee hill mount keeps coming up in my searches. What are your thoughts on its so far?
- Filip Morovich Jack Lewis the yhm 227-a 1/2” tall riser is simple and affordable so I have been recommending it to people as a way to try tall optics either variables or 1x dots all ready mounted on lower 1/3. I haven’t broken any and I haven’t heard complaints from anyone who also tried it.
- Jack Lewis Filip Morovich Thank you my Dude
- Nick Chen Is the 2.04 specifically for red dots and nods? Like you wouldn’t put a 1-6 that high right?
- Rick Yates https://geissele.com/super-precision-scope-mount-30mm-for...Manage
- Nick Chen So I don’t understand why you would want a scope that high. I’ll talk to Geissele next week in Florida and find out. Hopefully they have one I can shoot.
- Rick Yates It’s allows a more natural heads up shooting position. You don’t have to duck your head down as much to get behind the gun. If you have something mounted on top of your rail, it allows clearance of that as well.
There are a number of manufacturers have been making higher than lower 1/3 for years. Larue, ADM, Midwest, and Geissele more recently. - Rick Yates Pressburg went into detail of the benefits of a higher mount a few years back in one of the Modcast. I’ll see if so can find it.
- Nick Chen Rick Yates yeah I get it for a red dot or 1x but not at magnification.
- Rick Yates It may not be “as” stable due to the lack of cheek weld but for a patrol rifle it’s likely going to live most of its time on 1x.
I haven’t found the higher mount to be a hinderance when shooting precision.
Set the rifle up for what’s most probably. - Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. Nick Chen why
- Nick Chen Steve Fisher I just dont have experience behind such a tall mount. I guess cheek weld for shooting at like 400 yards is not as important?
- Steve FisherSteve and 51 others manage the membership and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. Nick Chen yes and working barriers. Etc. limited application for Pr type shooting but stand up kneeling and weird positions yes and pro mask
- El Travieso Nick Chen you have to shift mentally that the LPVO equipped patrol rifle is not a sniper rifle.
- Nick Chen El Travieso 400 yards is not sniper distance. It is 3Gun distance.
- El Travieso Yes but approaching the setup with the mindset that you have to mount and check the gun like a PR will kill the intention of the 1.93 and 2.04 mounts. Fisher hit it on the head that LPVOs live on 1x on patrol rifles. I can count the number of times I've rolled the power ring on one hand in a year.
- Nick Chen El Travieso which is why I said earlier that I can see this setup for red dots and scopes on 1x.
I wasn’t sure if people are rocking higher magnification scope with this setup. - Ethan George Nick Chen most I'd use with a 1.93 or 2.04 is a 1-8.
- Mason Pearson Have you checked the height over bore on an AI or other chassis gun with a Sphur Mount? They are all approaching 2” as well.
- El Travieso Yes but when you raise the comb on the stock it negates the height of the rings/mount. No PR shooter I know is shooting with a chin weld on a 2" mount for precision work. Apples and oranges here.
- Matt LandfairMatt and 4 others manage the membership, moderators, settings, and posts for P&S - Primary & Secondary. I ordered a Geissele 2.04 today cuz peer pressure.
- Rick Labistre My 1.93 is so inadequate now
- Bill Ridge I guess I Could use and extra 1/2" also.
Oh ... wait ... :-o
