Jeremy E. Stafford — Mossberg Military/LE Sales Director, LAPD Firearms SME & Marine Veteran

Jeremy E. Stafford is the Director of Military/Law Enforcement Sales for O.F. Mossberg & Sons, a retired Los Angeles Police Department officer and firearms subject-matter expert, Marine combat veteran, instructor, writer, and P&S podcast panelist.

Professional Biography

Stafford served approximately thirteen and a half years in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve, including combat operations in Iraq. He received the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” for valor. His military experience included operational use of the Mossberg 590A1 and work supporting institutional capability and police development in Iraq.

That military background later complemented a law-enforcement career focused on patrol work, training, organizational response, and the practical demands placed on individual officers and large agencies.

Los Angeles Police Department

During his LAPD career, Stafford served in patrol, narcotics, field training, counterterrorism, and firearms-training assignments. As a department firearms subject-matter expert and senior instructor, he helped develop and revise handgun, rifle, shotgun, and instructor-development curricula.

Institutional firearms programs must balance operational requirements, officer ability, available training time, safety, policy, equipment, logistics, legal constraints, and lessons from actual incidents. Stafford’s work focused on turning individual techniques into systems that could function across a large and varied agency.

MACTAC and Equipment Evaluation

Stafford helped develop the LAPD’s Multiple Attack Counter Terrorism Action Capabilities program. MACTAC addressed coordinated, geographically dispersed attacks and required integration of threat analysis, tactics, officer initiative, communication, training, command, and equipment. The program received the California POST Excellence in Training Award and influenced agencies beyond Los Angeles.

He also participated in formal evaluations of firearms, holsters, armor, carriers, shields, and other duty equipment. His approach recognizes that professional procurement involves more than an individual product review. Reliability, maintenance, lifecycle support, training implications, and suitability across a complete user population all matter.

Industry Leadership and Writing

As Director of Military/Law Enforcement Sales at Mossberg, Stafford connects professional-user requirements with the company’s military and law-enforcement firearms programs. His combined experience as an end user, instructor, curriculum developer, evaluator, and industry representative provides a systems-level view of how firearms move from design and procurement into training and field use.

Stafford has written for firearms and law-enforcement publications on weapons handling, shotguns, equipment, mentorship, instructor development, and professional culture. A recurring theme is that established practices should be examined against their purpose and available evidence rather than preserved solely through tradition.

P&S Connection

Stafford is part of the Extended Primary & Secondary Network through his participation as a P&S podcast panelist. His contributions bring together military experience, big-city policing, institutional firearms instruction, equipment testing, program development, and firearms-industry leadership.

That breadth is particularly useful in long-form P&S discussions because he can address how a concept or product affects not only an individual shooter, but also instructors, supervisors, procurement personnel, maintenance systems, policy, and an agency’s broader mission.
