Professional Biography
Lorin Michael Michki is a professional artist, illustrator, printmaker and firearms enthusiast whose detailed hand-rendered work documents both historic weapons and contemporary firearms culture.
Michki earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Marshall University in 2013. University records also document his participation in a 2011 drawings-and-prints exhibition and later work teaching introductory visual art. His formal training in drawing, composition, printmaking and visual communication became the foundation for the body of firearms-related work he developed through Drawn Fire.
His subjects include historic military arms, revolvers, defensive shotguns, AR-pattern rifles, 1911 and 2011 pistols, portraits, military themes and references drawn from popular culture. Traditional pen-and-ink techniques give the work a visual connection to technical illustration, engraving, military manuals and early commercial art.
Michki’s illustrations do more than depict a general firearm type.
