E. Alan Normandy is a retired South San Francisco police lieutenant, former SWAT officer and firearms instructor, firearms technical consultant, founder of Battle Comp Enterprises, and longtime firearms-rights advocate.
Professional Biography
Normandy served approximately 28 years with the South San Francisco Police Department before retiring. His assignments and responsibilities included SWAT service, firearms instruction, tactical instruction, supervision, and command-level work as a lieutenant. That experience provided the operational foundation for his later work in firearms training, product development, media, and policy.
He also worked as a firearms expert and technical consultant for the television series MythBusters. In that role, he supported firearms-related experiments with equipment, range access, safety oversight, and technical explanation for a general audience.
Normandy founded Battle Comp Enterprises in 2010. The company developed muzzle devices intended to balance recoil and muzzle-rise control against the blast and flash characteristics associated with more aggressive brakes. Battle Comp remains active as a firearms-accessory company.
His work later expanded into firearms-rights advocacy. Public organizational and court records document Normandy’s service in senior leadership and board roles with the Firearms Policy Coalition, as well as his participation in constitutional firearms litigation.
