Brandon Hizak is a paramedic, former police officer, firearms writer, and experienced practitioner whose work and interests connect public safety, emergency medicine, firearms training, and equipment evaluation.
Within the firearms community, Hizak is particularly associated with sustained use of the Kalashnikov platform. His 2020 essay, “A Decade with the AK,” documented more than ten years with AK-pattern rifles and approximately 11,000 rounds of experience at the time of publication. Rather than treating the platform primarily as a historical or collecting interest, he examined it through formal training, equipment selection, maintenance, accessory use, and long-term observation.
