Professional Biography
Aqil Qadir is a veteran firearms educator, former police officer, security professional, and founder and lead instructor of Citizens Safety Academy in Tennessee. His instructional experience began while helping his father teach urban youth and developed into more than four decades of civilian firearms education and more than three decades of work with law-enforcement students.
Qadir became an NRA-certified instructor at age 22. His continuing professional development has included training through Rangemaster, IALEFI, Gunsite, Yavapai Firearms Academy, Defense Training International, and other programs covering handgun, rifle, shotgun, personal protection, law-enforcement instruction, and instructor development.
Citizens Safety Academy emphasizes the needs of ordinary armed citizens and provides education ranging from introductory firearms safety through defensive pistol, rifle, shotgun, concealed carry, personal protection, and instructor-development programs. Qadir’s approach includes “gateway instruction”: giving unfamiliar students a serious but accessible entry point without assuming prior knowledge of firearms terminology, equipment, or gun culture.
Qadir has also served as an NRA Training Counselor and law-enforcement instructor. He is closely associated with Rangemaster and serves as Chief Range Safety Officer for the Rangemaster Tactical Conference, where coordinating simultaneous live-fire instruction requires consistent standards, communication, emergency planning, and professional judgment.
