Antonio Luna — Live-Sound Engineer, Paramedic and Firearms Instructor

Professional Biography

Antonio Luna is a veteran live-sound and touring-production professional, paramedic, emergency-medical instructor, firearms instructor, and former protective-operations instructor. His career combines decades of technical production work with emergency medicine and instruction in environments where preparation, communication, and reliable performance matter.

A Chicago native, Luna entered professional audio in the late 1980s. His experience has included work as a monitor engineer, front-of-house engineer, systems engineer, production manager, tour manager, PA technician, crew chief, and backline technician. Working across these positions gave him a practical understanding of the complete production system rather than a single console or job function.

Luna’s documented touring and mixing credits include Alicia Keys, Aerosmith, KISS, 3 Doors Down, the Allman Brothers Band, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Alter Bridge, Cheap Trick, Matchbox Twenty, Meghan Trainor, Lou Gramm, and other national acts. Industry coverage has specifically documented his monitor-engineering work with Alicia Keys, Aerosmith, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Alter Bridge.

Monitor engineering requires both technical competence and considerable trust. The engineer builds and maintains the sound environment on which performers rely while a show is underway, often troubleshooting complex systems without stopping the performance. Luna’s work has included personal-monitor systems, digital consoles, audio networking, multitrack recording, virtual soundcheck, signal routing, and the design of reliable touring workflows.

Emergency Medicine and Instruction

Luna served as a paramedic from 1992 through 1996 and returned to paramedic practice in 2020. He has also served as an EMT instructor for Pelham Training in Bloomfield, Illinois.

His firearms-instruction background includes service as a law-enforcement pistol instructor for Illinois NEMERT Mobile Training Unit 16. He is an NRA rifle, pistol, and shotgun instructor and an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer. From 2014 through 2018, he instructed for Cubic/NEK’s Advanced Force Protection in Hostile Environments program, including the Lone Operator Course.

Although live production, emergency medicine, and firearms training use different tools, Luna’s work across all three fields reflects related professional habits: understanding the complete system, anticipating failure points, communicating clearly, reducing unnecessary complexity, and remaining effective while conditions change.
