Why Not Condor?

For one I hate to feed there economy, but not like my few dollars will hurt them. I have tried a few packs and well they just fall apart to easy and fast.

The one thing I did buy of theirs and has been worth the money and held up is their sumit jacket. It fits right has held up to my use for over a year now and still looks brand new. The only con is I ordered OD green and well while it is green it is not OD but it still looks ok.

My opfor plate carrier is a condor. I've been impressed its run the last few months with steel plates to train with the weight, gotten dropped, rained on, shot (a few times....) and so far it keeps on going. That said I got it for an amazing price used so it was worth the money. With new ones running $100+ I'd never buy one new. A Mayflower APC rides so much better as do other higher end options.

The other condor gear I've seen or used is pretty crap tastic. I got a free pistol case in a "random bag of crap" that has mag loops sewn so poorly they either accomodate AR size mags or #2 pencils.

They used to make a solid rigger belt. But I cannot find one now. I even tested it on the rappel tower just to see. I have seen their summit zero jacket take an impressive amount of abuse. I'm also a fan of their battery case. now here is my $.2 on Condor overall. if you are primarily a fobbit, and will only roll out once or twice and you just needed a couple extra things different than what was issued. Then sure its fine. but if you are any kind of combat role or even combat support role no.... you're almost better rocking standard TA-50. If you are playing opfor or doing tons of force on force/ sims training. personally I don't want to use my nice stuff. Id like to have a condor setup as close to my normal rig as possible. and let my $200 dollar rig eat paint and my $500 be GTG on game day. (plus I hate washing that shit off I swear it never leaves)

I think Atlas hit the nail on the head. I've owned and worn a Condor jacket for years now. As a transitional civilian (even if I do end up not separating, and get deployed again, I'll just end up working inside the wire) with a family, I just can't justify the several hundred dollar buy in on top tier clothing. For loadout gear, I buy quality (First Spear, TYR, BFG, ATS, etc), and know that for me, it'll probably last my lifetime.

As for other Condor gear, if you're looking for cheap force on force gear, I don't see why it's a bad thing, minus the economics. I'm not sure what the second and third order effects would be if top tier gear and clothing makers started up a budget line of gear. They might steal from their high end gear, and they might suffer damage to their image, but I really don't know.

I buy their caps...I think they are all made in same sweat shop...I do have a jacket, not sure what model it is. I find their gear to be sub-par.

When it comes to hats I prefer the TRU-SPEC brand! Made in the USA and fits my mellon just fine!!!!!! And it host the Unicorn Patch just fine!!!!

I thought that stuff looked familiar, just haven't seen those symbols for whatever multiplexers you're using. I've only ever had experience with Prominas and older/outdated stuff. I'm guessing what I'm looking at are mostly each site having signal converters on the ends and your actual mux gear is the smaller thing lower center? Sounds like you'd laugh at the data rates on the aggregates I'm used to pushing! Internet fist-bump to you, sir, for being a fellow comm nerd.

Oh, and just so I am slightly on topic: Condor blows greasy dick hole. The stitching sucks and the materials are second rate. I might buy one of their softshell TAD Hoodie rip-off thingies though just to trash at the range.

Anything not made of ATACS or MULTICAM is immediately suspect

The material was sourced in the US, BUT materials don't make for gear. Their poor design, non-adherence to specifications and overall shoddy workmanship is more than enough to not consider CONDOR for work use.

I will admit, although most of my pouches are Blackhawk, Eagle or others of a decent quality, I do use the condor single m16 mag pouch with the bungee on my PC as a Taser X26 holster. It's cheap and available locally so it's there. I have, as of yet to have any issues with it, but have also not had to draw it and zap anyone so....

I also have a few condor rifle slings. They are decent for the price but I know there are better out there. Again, they are locally available opposed to having to order other stuff so that's what I went with. They will eventually be replaced with BFG or other similar slings but they work for now. Until they don't I guess.

Ill echo what Eggroll says as well as to add that the materials used in most of their gear is of suspect origins. Like those "Air Jordans" that you got in Seoul that magically melted when it rained. The materials in some of their stuff is claimed to be 1000D cordura or the like. Its not. It will not hold up to abrasion or use.

Some of their clothing lines fair better due to the materials used.

What it boils down to is if you have shoddy manufacturing and shoddy materials you are rolling the dice.

I have a hat and jacket by condor that I put threw hell for years and they are great. I absolutely love both of them and I would by another jacket and hat from them. On that note I've had a condor plate carrier that I absolutely hated and would not suggest it to anyone. I also had there Ar mag pouch that was a freaking death trap. And in this picture you can see the hat is well used and the plate carrier of death is nice and shiny because it just sits in my basement. It doesn't fit right or feel right. And I swear when I got it I started pulling threads out of it. Compared to the actual high end plate carrier I use this thing feels like absolute junk.

Condor clothing is actually not bad. Why? Because no one does economy clothing like Asia. That said, their gear lacks spec, and their clothing carries the stigma of their name. I won't sell or use either.

Have I tested it? Guys on my last team (I was Tm Sgt) bought some when they were being sold at kiosks in the PX. That shit failed 5 times out of 10. Gents, 1 time out of 10 failure rate is too high in any environment where simple assets becoming liabilities can result in mission failure. I put my foot down and told them any non SPEAR purchases should be preceded by an inquiry with me (most people I work with don't know I run a gear store since I don't solicit peers, leaders, or subordinates).

It's great gear for Airsoft, Paintball, Milsim, auto-erotic asphyxiation, recreating the basement scene from Pulp Fiction, all that sort of shit, but it's not built for a 99.9% success rate in actual combat, or even realistic military training.
