Karl Kasarda is the founder and principal creator of InRangeTV, a competitive shooter, match director, firearms historian, practical-rifle evaluator, and co-developer of the What Would Stoner Do? rifle concept. InRangeTV and Experimental Firearms History

Kasarda’s media work helped popularize a form of experimental firearms history: examine the design and its intended use, place it into a relevant practical exercise, measure the result, and compare observation with reputation or theory.
Brutality Matches
Kasarda began directing the 2-Gun Action Challenge Match in Tucson in 2009. Its stages emphasized marksmanship under physical stress, awkward positions, field conditions, and problem solving. That philosophy developed into Desert Brutality in 2018 and a broader family of Brutality events.
The format tests shooter, equipment, decision-making, and physical capability together. Its value is not that every stage reproduces a real-world encounter, but that difficult and unfamiliar problems can expose weaknesses that conventional practice may leave hidden.
What Would Stoner Do?
Kasarda and Ian McCollum developed the WWSD project by asking how the original AR-15 design philosophy might be expressed using modern materials and components. The project emphasized low weight, good handling, reliability, accuracy, and useful capability without unnecessary additions.
The concept later informed commercially produced rifles and components developed with KE Arms and other industry partners. WWSD demonstrated how historical study, engineering questions, practical testing, and product development can inform one another.
