Mike Cain is the founder of B.O.S.S. Silencers—Black Ops Suppression Systems, a Virginia-based silencer manufacturer. His work combines engineering, manufacturing, and product development with an interest in making suppressed shooting more accessible.
Background
In his October 7, 2026 appearance on P&S ModCast 469, Cain describes approximately 15 years working in government intelligence. He recounts work involving Russian language, cartography, and analysis, alongside overseas assignments.
Cain also describes building a technology-consulting business around drones and expanding into robotics and manufacturing. He discusses his work with Onyx Industries on remotely operated weapons and how those projects helped lead to the development of the original Guillotine silencer.
B.O.S.S. Silencers
Cain identifies himself as the company’s original founder and his brother Nick Cain as a co-founder. BOSS began selling silencers in 2022. Its designs include the Guillotine, Chairman, Commander, Executive, Camacho, El Jefe, and Top Shot families, with additional products discussed as being in development during the interview.
His P&S conversation examines baffle geometry, manufacturing methods, sound character, back pressure, mounting choices, and the different demands of rimfire shooting, patrol rifles, and precision-rifle competition.
