Level 3 Holsters

With the court house shooting here in MI there is rumor we are looking at level 3 holsters. I have some experience with one back in the early 90s. Help me out with the pros and cons please.

Level 3 is kind of a broad category. Something like a 6360 is tits, some of the others suck. With the good ones I don't think you loose much speed.


Pros: security
Cons: more frequent training needed to retain speed.

Switched to the Safariland 6360 in 2014 and never looked back. Draw is fast after the initial practice period and retention is excellent.

I'm partial to and used extensively the Safariland 070 (SS III) For my reserve LE and security gigs. Kept my SIG from 3 attempted grabs.

Was your early 90's experience a Safariland 090 by chance? BTDT. I actually got really fast with mine, even with the 3 different actions to get the blaster in play. Safariland has much better options now. Also, what is your agency considering a Level 3?
