High End
Medium (budget)
Low (airsoft)

Frank WoodsObjective data is a higher quality point of reference than a shared opinion; I've gotta give him that much. If someone here were able to say precisely why Exhibit A doesn't rate compared to Exhibit B, there'd be less debate.
This is evident where some respected SMEs here swear by certain products, and other respected SMEs say they suck. The loudest opinion becomes fact/gospel and it is run with, at the sacrifice of hard technical data.
This is just an observation I've noticed in my time here. In conclusion, actual data would improve the air quality & signal:noise ratio better than shared personal opinion.

Matt WicksI agree with that sentiment, Frank. Hard numbers from scientific testing done right rule the day. If all you have is an opinion that holds less weight regardless of how much time on product X you have. Doesn't mean you aren't right or that I won't believe you, but real testing is always better.
May 24 at 1:15pm · Like · 2 -
Matt WicksI will also add that the problem with asking for hard numbers is that many of those tests are not publicly releasable unless you are part of the org that did it or have a relationship with them.

Matt WicksThat is where your ability to read between the lines and identify trusted individuals in the group comes in. If someone like Roland says something, it comes with a lot of weight. If someone like me says something, not as much so I will need to prove it. No one is going to come out and say "I know more but I can't tell you" but that is often the case with the big names in here.

Mike PhillipsI hear REALLY good things about the Aimpoint M4 tho, if one of my MePro's fail I may go to that as a replacement (I honestly was not a huge fan of my T-1 for some reason, like my Pro better) I don't think anything will replace my ACOG/RMR combo tho, even tho the RMR on top is kinda well useless as shit IMO

Kevin BolandT1 is about the last battery optic I'd ever get rid of. Yes I've broken some but most of those if not all where run in loose or worked loose mounts on belt fed guns. My T1 what's the only optic to survive the KAC Battle rifle pip testing. Now the others were Elcan and EOTEC so I guess it didn't say much now

Frank WoodsCan you elaborate on said PIP testing?

Phil CombsMy t1 has a loose adjustment dial. Not sure if that has anything to do with it turning off when it gets bumped or not tho

Kevin BolandProgram that led to the K gun. Just envision a shoulder it's got about 3 feet of bruising on it
Phil The adjustment knob is what holds the battery on as well so if it's loose you might have a short

Frank WoodsAny insight as to what the testing consisted of?

Mike PhillipsNot super in depth but not a horrible test, he should of shot more, but then again this is the "short" take, long one was like 15m

Mike PhillipsThe washout of shooting in pitch black using a light is the biggest downfall of the MePro and ACOG, they both wash right out, the MePro was hardly there and the ACOG went from red to black real damn quick

Matt JamesAt least younhave the black with an ACOG or LPV

Mike PhillipsTrue, I can still see the MePro but if the target is wearing light colours it will wash 100%, oddly enough my RMR on top of my ACOG didn't wash out like at all

Matt JamesUgh, that's another shit tastic sight configuration. Way to much HOB for the feasible ranges it could be used for.

Mike PhillipsYeah I absolute hate it, I think it'll be moved back to the 45° where it belongs
