Cutting your Glock Slide Lock lever

Per Matts request from the Glock Slide stop post on FB:

When I started shooting Glocks with my hands and grip I had a bad time with inadvertently hitting the slide stop. I took the route of just cutting it off.

I have personally never encountered or seen a naturally occurring malfunction that required the slide to be locked back to clear. My person all method of clearing malfunctions is Tap the mag, rack the slide. If that doesn’t work…rip the magazine out (I run GAP or MP plates) re insert mag, rack the slide. Guys talk about a “double feed” Un like a rifle where you can actually have 2 rounds physically entering the chamber and locking up the mag, a pistol doesn’t. It is more of a in line double feed if anything. Hardly enough to lock the magazine in place.

If I do need to lock the slide back for whatever reason, I rack the slide back and use my off hand index finger to lift up on the slide stop lever via the ejection port.

Is this the end all be all? No? Does it work for me? Yes. Will it be for you? I don’t know that’s up to you to decide.
