I had a sight failure on my FNS-9 as well. While I wasn't happy with my former department's FNS experience, I didn't blame FN for that issue. I imagine the problem was experienced by other gun manufacturers and agencies that used the sights.
We transitioned from the SIG .40 226 and 239 to the FNS-9. Excellent shots maintained their proficiency. Lower performing shooters did better. More dedicated, but less talented, shooters like me tended to do worse with the pistol.
