Current 2016 production Speer 147 gr G2 is working fine: https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?20650-9-mm-147-gr-duty-load-testing
Feel like the odd ball here. I run the 147grn. Win. Train and Defend, and they do indeed shoot to the same poa/poi. Well for me anyway. YMMV.
I picked Speer GD 124+p for my 9mm civilian SD pistol off Doc's list.
With my aging retiree hands, the GDs 'popped' a bit too much, so I recently switched to Federal P9HST2 147 in standard pressure.
I will be using that for my P30SK, as I've understood Doc to say in the shorter barrels, the heavier ammo tends to perform as well as in the longer barrels.
If I've misunderstood that, could someone correct me please.
Appears we went with 147 Gold Dot 9mm. Opinions, Doc?
135 9mm Critical Duty non P+
Did you choose that load or was it issued. If you chose it, why?
I went with the 135 grain because it has increased penetration with reliable expansion. I also went with the non plus P round because I run a compact.
The non +p version tends to not expand from shorter guns in my observation.
We are currently carrying HST across the pistol caliber spectrum.I am a law enforcement officer and my depts. firearms instructor so I have a lot of input of what my dept carries for a duty round. I am wondering what other agencies and/or people are carrying for their self defense/carry ammunition.
We recently switched to the 9mm and went with the new Speer Gold Dot 2.
