What are the top branded AR15's

I was a LaRue employee, 2009 -10 , back when the OSR then OBR released. I was the guy on the other end of the phone. At that time i'd vouch for anything we made. Currently i couldnt say i haven't seen a new LT rifle in a few years. Mounts and rails are still solid designs.

I think you missed my follow up on the last page.
You mean the part about the blem parts that appeared new? That was one subjective example. You did not have any substantiation of your assertion that Adams is "Just as good as and a lot cheaper than BCM or DD"

It seems also that the assertion that "blem" means "used" is being made.
In the machine shops I've worked in over the past 34 years, "Blem" meant tool marks that didn't go away with the post machining tumbling, glass bead blast process, etc., certainly not "used". The blemishes generally are difficult to find especially to those who don't know or understand the different set-ups and multiple machining processes parts go through.

For my patrol guys looking to purchase a complete, basic AR I usually recommend the Colt 6720.

For guys looking for something with more options (Free-float hand guard, flip-ups, midlength gas barrels, etc), I have been exclusively suggesting BCM.

Not all that impressed with Daniel Defense as they shoot like they're over-gassed compared to BCMs. Their new MLOK rail looks promising but their current "Slim" Keymod hand guard is a big disappointment for me.

I find this interesting as DD uses a smaller gas port than BCM.

-Lots of time behind multiple BCM offerings and nothing but smooth running.
-Have some first hand time with an ADM and although not a long test period I can say they make a very nice rifle. Have an ADM SBR offering in testing for our agency.
-Fair bit of time with multiple DD offerings in class and no issues to report.
-I have an early S&W MP15 that has run like a scalded rat for many thousands of rounds but WOULD NOT suggest this one off experience is an indicator of duty readiness! Their rifles (and I've seen many through a variety of classes and LE range instruction) seem to run fine but QC has always been a question with a variety of different levels of build quality witness throughout the model lineup and generations.
-Many Colts all boringly reliable

Saw War Sport brought up a few times and figured I'd share my experience. I bought an upper from them and if it likes the lower receiver it's a great product, recoil and muzzle rise are negligible. If it doesn't like the lower receiver then it's the most frustrating POS ever, FTEs every 3-6 rounds on multiple recievers. It likes 2 of my 3 BCM lowers, 1 of 4 Spike's, and my Seekins lower. Should also note that none of my other uppers have any issues on any of my lowers, it's just that the WS is apparently extremely picky.

My 6920 has been nothing but great. The only failure to fire issues I've had with it is due to a 4.5lb spring I put in plus hard primers. Not the rifle's fault. Swapped back to milspec and everything is good. Haven't had a single jam or anything, and it'll eat whatever I put through it.

I'd say you're too AR brands (in no specific order) are KAC, LMT, Colt , BCM, DD, FN, Noveske, HK.

I have personal experience with KAC, BCM and Noveske. I currently am shooting an SR-15 and find it to be the best by a long shot. There's some minor, little things that add up with the KAC to make it really a step above everyone else.

I have read poor reviews of Christensen Arms. Rock River definitely falls in hobby category.

Rialdnal,
Have RRA always been 'hobby'? I know companies can change, especially post ownership or leadership changes. I purchased my RRA six months after the ban lifted roughly 10 years ago. There we're not a lot of options at the time back then and from what I understood RRA was one of the few that were not considered bottom of the barrel, Which is why I spent the extra money for it. If I recall, RRA was also awarded a DOD or DHS contract around that same time as well. Personally, I have been nothing but pleased with how my RRA has performed and held up. Everything works right as group sub MO way shows no unusual where were putting, and has never given me a failure of any kind. Though I only have about 2000 rounds through it (as I have built other rifles since and primarily only shoot my work rifles the last eight years) this has been my experience with it. So again I ask if they have always been considered hobby grade?

I think that they have always been "hobby grade," it's just that back in the day a lot of people didn't know any better, and we didn't have so many options that were substantially better for the same money. As for your gun working alright... I've seen a ton of DPMS sporticals that ran just fine, and I've seen a KAC SR-15 that had an unfinished chamber right from the factory. Shit happens. Even with shit companies, they overwhelming majority of their products still work, and even top tier companies turn out a lemon every now and then. I trust my life to KAC.

I do believe they held a large government contract a while back, however, I quit putting much faith in what the .gov does a long time ago. A local department here has DPMS and Bushmaster on their approved list but not KAC.... doesn't mean DPMS or Bushmaster is worth a shit, and doesn't mean KAC is a poor product.

RRA does not to my knowledge, nor have they ever produced a rifle that adheres to or exceeds the TDP.
