What are the top branded AR15's

We OEM for FN, and have some time with the guns, although not an endurance test amount of time. There should be nothing different from .mil production in the civvy guns apart from configuration, and FN America has some solid QA/QC.

Through the past 18 years, I went from Colts (6520 and 6920) to LMTs, then DDs, moving on to KAC SR15s for quite a while.
Came across a Hodge MOD1 and the simplicity, but high quality of execution, brought me back to what I like so much about the platform: simplicity, accuracy and dependability.

Where does POF stand? I hardly hear about then one way or the other, although that may also be a clue?

POF is not one I would personally consider for hard use. Known QC issues for one thing, documented poor customer service. There are better options.

I wasn't considering buying one, I assumed they were hobby grade but I've never seen one personally.

For my patrol guys looking to purchase a complete, basic AR I usually recommend the Colt 6720.

For guys looking for something with more options (Free-float hand guard, flip-ups, midlength gas barrels, etc), I have been exclusively suggesting BCM.

Not all that impressed with Daniel Defense as they shoot like they're over-gassed compared to BCMs. Their new MLOK rail looks promising but their current "Slim" Keymod hand guard is a big disappointment for me.

I've had good personal experience with BCM, (my go to), Daniel Defense, and Colt.

I've also had experience with an Adams Arms upper on an LWRC lower, but I only had about 800 rounds through it before I sold it so I never fully shook it out, but those rounds were trouble free.

I am a fan of BCM and I use one on patrol. My team uses Colt 6920 and we have not had any issues. Noveske for my play around gun since its not authorized. I am in the process of buying more BCM for patrol and phasing out some Rock Rivers the last range master bought.

What's the consensus on Larue? I was expecting them to be talked about more here. I was always under the impression they had some of the best gear you can get. Are there any items that should be avoided from them?

You can not go wrong with anything you buy from them from scope mounts to complete weapons and everything in between. I do not own any of their gear yet. I have friends who do own their gear and are more than satisfied with them.

LaRue is not a "duty quality" brand anymore. I have seen 3 issued OBRs fail and have have to go back for out of spec chambers or failing to run properly - short stroking on 1 gun, major over gassing issues on another. Chambers were so tight on 2 rifles one would pull bullets from unfired rounds and the other wouldn't chamber a round in field conditions (minor dust and dirt from a range day- nothing retarded).

LaRue had good customer service but endusers in my agency shelved the guns because they don't trust them.

BCM is my go to brand for parts and complete guns. I first started using BCM BCGs in my duty rifles before deployments. When I was into building rifles, I would always use BCM BCGs at a minimum and typically used all BCM parts for the uppers. I eventually got to where I just bought complete BCM guns. I did buy a Sig AR pistol recently just because I have always wanted one and could not find a complete BCM pistol in stock anywhere. One of the first things that I did to the Sig was install a BCM BCG and charging handle.

While in the military I used multiple colts and never had an issue with any of them. My last issued rifle in the military was an FN and again I had no issues with it and it was very accurate. On my last deployment which is when I had the FN issued to me, I had a pretty much unlimited ammo supply and a range. I shot a lot that deployment. I would not hesitate to own anything made by FN because in my experience they are good to go.

My current patrol rifle is a S&W model TS. That is not by choice, that is what we are issued and that is what we have to use. It has been almost 100% reliable, however there are not nearly as many rounds through that gun as my personal guns or the guns I had in the military especially the FN.

BCM, HK, DD, POF, we should really establish tier levels.

That being said I would put Adam's Arms in the same level as BCM and DD for a lot cheaper!
