Suppressor Cover

Bourneshooter

Blue Line Sheepdog
Rifle Suppressor Cover.

The use will be on a Surefire FA-212 Suppressor that goes between 2-3 AR-15’s (10.5” up to 16”). I’m trying to avoid any issue with the hot can hitting me during transitions. I know most of the experience people have is in the precision gun world dealing with mirage, which is not my concern here.

Dimensions on the can are:

Coverable area: 5 ¼”

Diameter: 1 3/8” (or so)

In looking on Google, I’ve found a few out there. Anyone with experience of the below listed? Any not on the list that you have experience with?

Didn't care for the Griffin. Too much material with the cover and contacted my Fury causing a shift in POI.

The Bowers is very good. No negative issues and I think it's about half the price of the Griffin.

I use a Warsport Suppressor Sock. Seems to work okay for my Surefire RC SOCOM556. I usually secure it by using some SOB Combat Bands, although I'm experimenting with folding the retention tab under my front BUIS. Fairly low profile, without all that bungie cord, less weight than a lot of the other covers.

Went with a Rifles Only FTW cover....cheaper than Griffon. I just couldn't do the bowers as it looks like a dildo on the end of a rifle.

Tab Gear and Rifles Only new FTW line of covers are pretty sweet. Just remember that if your not actually using it to remove it from the suppressor.

It mostly has to do with titanium built suppressors. If you get Ti much above 800 degrees it can start to get brittle. When using a suppressor on an SBR that's going to have a higher rate of fire its understandable to have a cover on it for when your doing transitions because theres a chance it will come into contact with your body. But realize that that cover is holding all that heat in. So it's best to remove the cover when not needed and let it cool.

Now will there be noticeable damage to your stainless steel can if you rip a bunch of mags through it and just leave the cover on? If you have a good quality suppressor most likely not. It's just an extra precaution for your investment. Kind of like using a muzzle brake on a SBR. The muzzle brake acts like a blast baffle so the suppressor is not taking all the abuse. It's not really necessary but if damage does occur then it's easier to replace a muzzle brake than a serialized suppressor.
