Personally, Back when they were the hs2000 I was all about them. price was right. Now.... i'm not much of the xdm fan.. xd I still like but not the xdm model. And my attraction to them is I fucking hate the glock and M&P trigger. Albeit I am a shield fan boy that new XDS 9 4.0 model has my eye as an edc gun. ( g19 is probably going to win though)

I had an XD 9 back when they first came out. Honestly it was a decent shooter and never gave me any problems. I got rid of it though when I realized the Glock 19 was what I had really been looking for. Once I had a G19 all the little annoying things about the XD started to become more apparent: shitty finish that almost wiped off with paper towels, quick rusting slide due to said shitty finish, spongy trigger, and the grip safety. I don't think they are bad guns, but they simply do not make sense when you could get a Glock for the same or less money and have a better pistol with more aftermarket support.

Well that makes sense if you don't like the Glock trigger. XD's trigger pull is about as opposite as you can get.

I hate my M&P trigger but I like the gun enough to get over it. I don't know ... all and all I think XD's make better race pistols if that's what you were looking to do. Duty/Defense, Definitely not my first choice.

Decent product+aggressive and effective marketing campaign+good factory warranty= XD success. I think SA was pretty smart in what they changed with the XDM.

I've run an XD9 in competition for damn near a decade now. Best gun around? Nope. But it's been raliable as hell. I've probably got about 15,000 rounds through it, and I'm just now (literally this morning) having to replace the extractor. I did upgrade to a match grade barrel a few years ago, but otherwise it's been good.

I've run a xdm .45 (18k rounds in 2 and half yrs) and just replace striker retainer pin, due to so much dry fire practice. Last year I got a xd 9 and I'm running it harder than the xdm, so far I love them both with out any issue. I trust my life with'em everyday. I don't have as much experience with glocks, they bite me every time! Otherwise I would.
