    I want to be able to combine what is in my opinion the best of both worlds and have not seen anyone offering this setup. Ideally I would like a cobra buckle duty/tactical 1.75-2" outer belt like this;

    Worn over a First Spear base belt;

    But have the outer belt utilize the Safariland hole pattern so I can run ELS mounts like this;

    Has anyone seen this or a similar setup before? I'm kind of stuck on the must have a Cobra buckle part.

    Any real or potential downsides to this I haven't been able to come up with?

    I've had this desire also, but have not seen anything with the ELS hole patterns. Just the Molle link up system on the exterior she'll of the belt for the els mounting system.

    What is the benefit of the ELS system within this context?

    Some find the ELS mounting system a bit stronger that the Molle system found on most belts. I know I gate the wobble of the attachments on my belt.

    Being able to reconfigure attachments easily, as was previously stated a more rigid/stable platform from which to pull mags, and tools from.

    Having been issued and worn Eagle and Tactical Tailor Subload MOLLE belts, Bianchi nylon black duty belts, Sam Brown Leather belts, and a myriad of personally owned nylon tactical/CCW gun belts I have tried a few different styles and types of belts. For non CCW work I prefer a base/liner belt and a rigid gun belt over.

    You should be able to use a soldering iron to make holes in a nylon belt to achieve what you're trying to do, if you're dead set on the ELS thing. I love my ELS competition belt but am using a Volund micro Battlebelt at work and it seems to be the best compromise I've found.

    Good idea on the soldering iron thing!
    I will attempt to borrow an ELS belt, make a stencil guide out of steel construction flashing, clamp my belt under it, and then burn the holes through.

    Be sure to report back on how it works out. Seems like a cool idea.

    A buddy at work uses one of thoes ratchet buckles for 3 gun...they look like a great solution for getting a ELS belt system on & off easily.
