Raven Concealment Balor for Trijicon RMR

I haven't seen much on the RCS Balor for the Trijicon RMR, so I thought I'd put this up.

I wanted a RS. But I really didn't want to mill my slide.

I spoke with Jimmy at F3 Tactical and I decided to try out the balor mount for the rmr.

Install was easy. Locked slide in a padded vise, knocked my rear sight off left to right (looking from the rear), lubed the dovetail, then took a 3/16 brass punch and installed the balor mount right to left. Once centered, I took the rear slide plate off and installed the the supplied backplate. I cleaned the supplied retaining screw with alcohol, put a dab of vibra lock on it and the mount was on.

Put a fresh battery in the rmr and same alcohol /vibra lock treatment for the mounting screws and I was ready to shoot steel.

Took 10 rounds and a few clicks to hit center at 10 yards. Then the steel targets at 15, 20 and 25 yards were dinging for the next 240 rounds of mixed 115gr Perfecta fmj, 124gr Hornady CD, 124gr and 147 gr Gold Dots.

Mount was tight and the rmr didn't budge.

I was drawing from a VG3 and the standard night sight I had left on during install was snagging my jeans/underwear. Took off the front sight and no more snag.

I'll update as I carry and put more rounds through this setup.20170225_163059_001.jpg 20170225_225821.jpg

Put another 145 rounds through it today. 100 rounds of Perfecta 115gr, 25 rounds of 115gr Hornady CD (not 124gr), and 20 rounds of 147gr Gold Dots.

With the rmr the groups were on top of each other, but the POI did change slightly depending on ammo.

I shot a mag with just the balor mounts buis and was hitting a note card at 10 yards. Good enough for me.

I also racked the slide using the front sight on my Ares belt, I liked that I wasn't putting pressure on the RMR and onto the mount. The front sight also prevented smudges on the glass during overhand racks.

I took the x300ub off at the halfway point, but felt the light helped to distribute the weight.

I really like this set up. A great way to see if you like the red dot on a pistol. I like it so much I'm keeping it this way.

Now, I'm thinking of rigging up a Rolandito 43 with a Dueck mount I have.
