Hi!
This was quite informative and convincing. However, I don't get the chamber and barrel choice for a carbine meant for business. I thought chromelined with 5.56 chamber was still gold standard?
Am I wrong?

Thanks for any input!

I see that point. But isn't a 223 wylde chamber combined with a stainless barrel more of a classic precision rifle setup than duty carbine?

Had some nasty surplus Hirtenberger ammo that got stuck in a Lothar Walter 223 chambered barrel. We reamed the chamber to 5.56 with Ned Christiansens chamber reamer. I can't count on always having perfect ammo and I guess for me it's reliability before accuracy.

I'd say buying nasty ammo is more of a choice than a "only thing available" kind of thing. particularly when talking about 5.56 or .223, both being some of the most widely used cartridges in the country. I could see that being the case when talking about old out of production cartridges or even 5.45.
