Indiana State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Anderson

(Anderson, Indiana) Detectives from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District were requested by Madison County Sheriff, John Beeman to investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred in Anderson early this morning.

Preliminary investigations determined that around 12:08 am, a Madison County Deputy was patrolling in the area of 5th Street and Jackson street. As the deputy stopped at the traffic light at that intersection, he observed individuals at the Jackson Mart gas station pumps began shooting in his general direction. The deputy exited his vehicle and fired at least one shot from his department issued sidearm. The Madison County Sheriff's Department identified the deputy as Deputy Robert A. Lemon, a four year veteran with the department. Lemon did not sustain any injuries.

It was later determined another vehicle drove past the Jackson Mart, fired shots at those individuals at the pumps, and drove away.

One individual, identified as Aundray Lamonte Ivy Jr .20 of Anderson, was struck by a bullet during the exchange of gunfire. Ivy was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. It not been determined at this time whether the bullet was from the Madison County Deputy sidearm or from the individual(s) in the other vehicle.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Madison County Sheriff's Department, Anderson Police Department, and the Madison County Prosecutor's Office.
