Pretty harsh complications to mefloquine.

Let me ask, why do we need a preventative? Majority of the world doesn't take a preventative and I know several that have lived their lives contracting in crappy parts of the world where malaria is present and never gotten that damned bug. If a preventative is needed why not start using garlic tablets, its a well known prevention. Safe and much cheaper with like zero side affects.

With Coartem being the drug of choice as recommended by the WHO, three day course and done. Why the continued effort to want to prevent? The risks of mefloquine far outweigh the benefits. Its far more cheaper and easier to wear long sleeves, use bug spray, use your treated bug nets and if you become symptomatic start Coartem.

Thoughts?
