Knives

An empire ant EDC or CQB weapon is the fixed blade knife which can be used when perhaps your carbine or handgun is entangled. I don’t see much discussion on the subject.

What features in a EDC “combat knife” do members look for? Type of steel, type of tip, profile, size, handle material, etc so members of primary and secondary find to be desirable?

My chosen EDC bad guy blade had been the Tracker Dan Bloodshark, cord wrapped, with an Eds edge. Eds edge meaning a double edge. I have seen it carve up a pig carcas during an Eds Manfesto class and became a believer. It doesn't scream "tactical" and maintence is easy. 7" overall with a 3.5" blade. The sheath plays a huge roll too. I can put the knife back inside the sheath either way. This rides IWB at 11 o'clock.

Other makers I would consider are Joe Watson, Eric Kramer, Dan Winkler, and Bang Tang knives.

For me, I would only consider a fixed blade for a SD role. Less moving parts and fail points.
