Glock 19 with Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Direct Milled

Several months ago, I lucked into a Leupold Delta Point Pro for an absolute song. It seemed to check the durability boxes of the Trijicon RMR, with the added bonuses of a larger viewing window, and a battery compartment that could be accessed without unmounting the sight.

Douglas Holloway over at ATEi has taken care of me, and my blasters for a long while. His attention to detail is well known. Given that, he was my first choice for doing the work to get this mounted to my G19.

Thing is-the DPP was so new at the time that Doug had not milled a slide for one yet. Further complicating things was the fact that the DPP is taller than an RMR, which means if you want the dot to cowitness with your irons, you need sights that are stupidly tall-in this case, a set from Dawson with a 0.485" tall front blade, and a 0.495" rear. Yes, that is essentially a half inch tall.

Doug graciously accepted the project on a one off basis, so I sent the gun, the sights, and the DPP off to him.

The package arrived back to me earlier this week.

As always, I'm blown away by Doug's work. The sights are indeed stupid tall, and will likely be replace with something that doesn't cowitness, but is shorter. As it stand, they are so tall they will not fit in a 6354DO.

As for the DPP, I have not gotten a chance to fully wring it out on the range yet. The height is a downside, but another to consider is that the illumination adjustment button is on top of the optic. When you go to push it, your finger blocks the beam emitter. This, coupled with the fact there is only one adjustment button, I can foresee being an annoyance.

Because we all like pretty pictures, these are the end result of the slide, in Doug's hands.

Recoil lugs? Yea...We've got recoil lugs.
Does the person who does your slide milling incorporate these?
Doug managed to incorporate four fully functional lugs for the DPP on my slide. This thing is going absolutely nowhere unless I want it to.

With the slide back in my hands, I swapped the sail...ahem...front sight to a shorter Ameriglo one. I also am going to experiment with the other unique feature of the DPP, which is the integrated rear BUIS.

This is the view through the DeltaPoint Pro with the rear BUIS removed, and the shorter front sight in place. As you can see, it's larger than an RMR, with less notable tint to the lens.

So, the final result of all this mayhem is this:

I'm going to use this thread to collect my thoughts on this setup with round counts going forward. This will give the community a round count metric in case there are durability issues that raise their head.

How does the deltapoint fit in holsters?
It fits perfectly fine so far in my 6354DO that I previously trimmed the locking block on to clear other RDS equipped guns that have the rear iron in front of the optic. In fact, the optic matches the contours of the hood so perfectly, it's like it was made for it.

I've not tried running it as a concealed gun yet, since I haven't had range time sufficient with it to thrash on it any. Obviously it should be perfectly fine in a VG3....
