Headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, Fortitude Tactical Group (FORTAC) was founded in 2013 by a group of Infantrymen who served together on various deployments. All of the founders are lifelong students, with each bringing eclectic skill sets and knowledge bases to bear on their teaching.
At FORTAC, we see ourselves as more than a training company; we espouse a lifestyle choice of grit and strength, pride and honor, discipline and competence. We believe that we are who we craft ourselves to be, and we act accordingly.
Our class content ranges from defensive handgun and carbine, to small unit tactics, unarmed/armed combatives, and mental game. We teach these things a little differently than most people do, tailoring our classes toward our students, taking into account the different needs of each individual, without watering down the material. We take our jobs seriously, but endeavor to blend a comfortable and enjoyable learning atmosphere with pressure testing and challenging evaluations.
The FORTAC method of teaching isn't to just teach you what to do, or to just teach you what to think. We're here to teach you what options you have, to teach you how to think. Not necessarily what the answer is, but how to find the answer.
Instead of focusing on trying to adapt rigid doctrine to flexible situations, we present principles, fundamentals that work across the board, so that you can apply them to your problems as needed. Ralph Waldo Emerson said it well, “As to methods, there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”
No dogma, no canon. Just common sense.
Common sense goes a long way.
