What's everyone's opinion on the FNX-45? I am currently running 1911's as my full size hand gun but I have been considering a double stack 45 to add to my kit. I have handled them and they fit my big hands well, I really liked the controls.

Weston ShoemakerNot with the FNX 45, but I have with other FN models, FNX 9 and FNX 40. Both ran great, accurate and felt good in my hand. Only issue I saw was the backstrap was a little loss, you can move it up and down. I didnt notice when shooting it.

Steve CarrollAnd have you ran +p? I usually run 230 grain XTP at around 910 fps in a 5" barrel and I would like to be able to interchange ammo between guns.

Chris CliftonThe few I've seen in classes have ran better than FN's 9 and 40 hammer guns (which rarely run IME)

Mark WilliamsI have now worked with 2 FN tacticals in cold weather and after spending a weekend stored and used in below zero weather, the plastic lower receiver deformed and the mags would get caught on the inside of the mag well. This would then require a sanding job to remove that friction inside. 2 different pistols, same exact problems.

Blake S. BerrettaEjector is one piece molded into the gun. Once it breaks, gun is dead in the water. I went with a Glock 41 because I can literally change any part that happens to break in a matter of minutes. This matters when you are half way through a 2 day 1000 round class that you paid $500 + to attend. It happens. Parts availability and cost plus time to send off for repair keep me away from guns like the FN and the HK.

Steve CarrollThe size doesn't bother me, if I am not trying to conceal it I like a big gun. It's actually no bigger than the m9 IIRC and feels better in my hands.

Steve CarrollI like 45. I am not a caliber snob, I carry a 38 SPL a lot and never feel undergunned. For a full size I like 45 acp, I like it's accuracy, recoil impulse and suppressability.

Frank WoodsThe FNX-9 is pretty sweet. I don't have one but I wouldn't mind owning one. Same size as a Glock 19, 17+1, and you can still run it 1911 style. Cool in my book.
