We are looking to replace the PPI model 2518 plates that our team has been using for the past 10 years.
Looking at the current Safariland/Protech lineup (our preferred vendor sells them) and seeing that most of their offerings are 1 inch "thinness" and thicker.
WTH? Seems like they are getting significantly thicker than ever. I'm all for lighter plates, but if the cost of that is adding more than 2 inches to your torso, not sure that's practical.
Are agencies/officers *actually* buying these? And if they are, how are they working out?
Looks like they are mostly made of compressed poly (which has a poor track record for stopping M855, although at least one of these models is a ICW that is rated to stop M855).
