Work Guns reduced.jpg

These are my work guns. These I use primarily in an LE capacity, but they get shot much more during my side employment for my business. The 10.5 LMT used to be on a semi lower until I got issued the 1970's-era M16, which freed my lower for another project. Fixed LMT rear BUIS, BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle, 2 MOA Aimpoint Comp M3 with a LaRue 1/3 mount, KAC RAS, Surefire Fury at the 3 o'clock in a Vltor mount, and a Insight PEQ-5 vis laser. I removed the KAC VFG to go with the simpler LaRue handstop so that it worked better for discrete carry that it now sometimes gets employed for. It's normally equipped with a VTAC sling and a B5 buttstock, but those are currently on loan for someone trying them out since I sidelined this carbine for a headspace issue that just popped up. It was my daily work gun for a while, but I went to a midlength for increased versatility and comfort with my long arms.

The BCM/EAG 14.5 has the typical Magpul MOE stock, my preferered choice of a VCAS sling, Tango Down PR24 attachment, Troy rear BUIS, Aimpoint Comp M4 and standard mount, BCM Gunfighter Mod 5 charging handle, BCM Mod 1 grip, Larue 9-inch midlength freefloat rail, LA-5, Tango Down stubby VFG, US Palm SCAR panel for the switch pad, 500 lumen Surefire Fury, and a Battle Comp 1.5 on the end. There is very little I would consider changing, as it just fits and works.

Primary work gun. Colt 6920 with Sampson Evo rail, GRSC 1X4, Surefire X300U, TQ on the stock. I like the weight and balance, it fits me well. I'm still getting used to the full length after using a SBR for so long .

Do yourself a favor and check out Macedon Defense and the KRAM spacer for TA-31's. Makes a huge difference for me, it raises and moves the ACOG back so that I can have a workable eye relief.

Daniel Defense M4 V5 with Trijicon TA31RCO-M150CP using the Macedon Defense riser, which gives me a much better eye relief.

Surefire M300 Mini Scout on a Gear Sector light mount, it has since been switched from 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock when the Troy sights were swapped for the MBUS Pro.

A "recce" that I built. I use this for everything such as home defense and range use. I think this was the closest rifle I've gotten to a "do it all" gun. Best I've gotten in terms of grouping was .5 MOA with a 5 round group and .9 MOA with a 10 round group.

Right now it has a Vortex 1-6x but I haven't gotten a photo of it in it's updated form. I think the Nighforce was a better choice for what I desire out of the gun so I may be going back to it.

When I was putting my rifle together, this was the picture I had in my head of what I wanted to do with it. Awesome setup

I'm looking to build a 16" RECCE type rifle. What kind of upper do you have on it and what made you choose to do SS barrel?

I'm looking to build a 16" RECCE type rifle. What kind of upper do you have on it and what made you choose to do SS barrel?

The upper components are:
Colt flat top upper
Colt BCG
Colt Carbine length gas tube
Lilja 16" stainless steel barrel
DD MK12 gas block

The rifle was originally a Colt LE6920. All of my builds start off with a base Colt.

I went with a stainless barrel for the accuracy. Also I wouldn't be shooting a high volume of rounds in a short time period so the chances of me ruining the barrel were pretty slim. The weight of the barrel also made it great for offhand shots.

How is the off-set with that T1? It looks like its sitting really high.

From my time using it I did not find it that bad. A quick glance up, shifting of the angle of my head, or lifting the head off the stock a small amount would show the dot hovering above the elevation turret. For me I think the 12 o clock dot is faster to acquire due to how little movement you need to get the dot and since your eye is already in-line with the rifle's bore it is simply a matter of just lifting or adjusting the angle of your head.

While one of the main uses of the T-1 was as a CQB sight, it played a big role in acquiring targets. I would put the dot on a target and drop my head down to the magnified sight. This was especially valuable when the scope was cranked up on the max zoom (10x) and the possibility of losing the target was greater or when I was shooting offhand from the standing position.

These are the two I've been playing with the most lately while I get my new 14.5" BCM finished up:

Top rifle is a Daniel Defense Factory SBR (MK18) with Aimpoint T-1 in Larue mount, X300 ultra, Geissele SSA-E, AAC M4-2000/51-T Blackout Flashhider.
Bottom rifle is for my boys to hunt with (oldest one's only 2 right now). It's an AAC/H&R Handi-rifle in 300 BLK with a Leupold 2-7x28 rimfire special and AAC Evo-9. Nice and quiet with those 220gr Subs. I just couldn't jump on the 300blk AR bandwagon, but do see utility to the cartridge as a quiet hunting cartridge. This rifle fills that need perfectly.
