BTI Door Pin Alternative...?

Hello all,

I have some upcoming entry training I will be putting on for my team at a regional training center.

We simply cannot afford to purchase BTI door pins due to the cost. I know BTI does not recommend it but has anyone used an alternate to the factory pins, such as wood dowels, 16ga nails (someone told me this works) or copper tubing??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wood dowels work but very easy. Good for initial training but not much more. Add stronger zip ties to require more effort or a more precise hit.
