Article linked below has been around for a couple of years but it makes a great case for periodically firing a competition classifier as part of agency training. The author is one of the best trainers working in the western US. The results documented in the article don't necessarily surprise me, and given how training in some parts of the country has regressed with budget and hiring standard reductions, it might be interesting to see some results.
For what it's worth I'm going to fire the IDPA classifier as part of this week's range session. I ordinarily classify in the top third of the Expert range in Stock Service Pistol, so we will see what happens.
