115 grain GOLD DOT

Recently came across a deal for a case of 115 grain standard pressure GDs. I was wondering what other members take on this particular offering for self defense is?
This would be carried in a G19 year round in the Great Lakes area. I don’t see much recommendations for 115 that is way I ask. Thank you to all who take the time to read and offer an opinion.

It's good ammo. It's my daily carry because it functions and shoots the best out of my EDC. As far as ballistic performance, it has good expansion and ideal penetration. As long as it functions reliably in your G19, I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't carry it.
Of course, if you don't want it, I'll always take it

What are the competitive shortcomings, Doc? Guessing velocity and penetration for the +P and expansion for the 147gr? Thanks for your expertise in advance.

It will work, but not as well as the 124 +P GD or 147 GD.

Doesn't 115 grain ammo not penetrate as well and is more velocity dependent and as a result is weaker in a shorter barrel?

Or am I off the mark here?
